FEEL, CREATIVE. oil on canvas. 16” x 20”. 2018

Storytelling is in my DNA, but it is only recently I’ve been able to claim that I am a narrative artist.

The Nothing Book was given to me by a friend for my 21st birthday.  She noticed my artist flare and wanted me to have a journal to document my thoughts. The book captures some poems and prose from childhood through college.

The margins are framed with colorful drawings. A handful of cards and photographs document memories. Of particular interest is the subject matter.  Each piece suggests a yearning to find the sacred, beauty, and justice in the world. I wrote a good deal about the relativity of time, the impact of love, and the majesty of nature.

As a kid I loved Peter Pan and envisioned playing all the parts. Today I firmly refuse to  “grow up.” Why should I accept things as they are? Neverland, a place where dreams are born and time is never planned. Freedom from the shackles of survivalism. Freedom to love. Freedom to create. Freedom to coexist. Freedom from hate. The possibilities are endless. Your inner child knows, talk to them.

I am who I have always been… becoming me remains the tricky part.
